TWELVE YEARS LATER… November 4, 2006

Ghost of Chuck Robb says…
“Let me tell you something about George Allen. George Allen is a rubber-stamping, civil rights-clamping, status quo-supporting, progress-thwarting, bill-stealing, warrant-concealing, ancestry-denying, pathalogically-lying, noose-hanging, janitor-haranguing, soft teeth-knocking, stem cell research-blocking, double-talking, MLK Day-balking, tracker-stalking, war-chickenhawking, racial-slurring, tax-deferring, stock option-hiding, Wadhams/Howell-riding, swift-boating, “marriage” amendment-promoting, confederate flag-waving, pork chop-craving, fiction-criticizing, ’08-fantasizing, klan-immortalizing, CCC-sympathizing, sibling-hospitalizing, cowboy-disguising, Macaca-calling, minimum wage hike-stalling, deer head-stuffing, N***** card-bluffing, hypocritically-campaigning, apology-feigning, seeds of division-sowing, party line-towing, interception-throwing, reelection-blowing, bored-on-Capitol Hill, run-of-the mill schoolyard bully from Palos Verdes who can’t tell the difference between the truth and a lie!!!

Revenge…HOW SWEET IT IS!!!

Who says Gerry is a camera whore and doesn’t help flood victims? BLASPHEMY. Check out this video clip, definitive proof that he’s been both keeping a low profile AND lifting the spirits of poor, presumably displaced Gulf Coast residents.

RUSS MEETS RUSS @ 6/25 MTP June 26, 2006

And Feingold's MTP grade? Drumrollllll please…
![]()

FEINGOLD EARNS AN APC A+.
There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it, Russ Feingold turned in a near-perfect performance on Meet the Press this morning. I have always been a big Feingold fan (mostly because of CFR, no, not because of the PATRIOT act vote) but have been unsure about his ability to be viable as a Pres. candidate given the fact that he is a twice-divorced maverick.
But today led me to second-guess that presupposition. Sen. Russ's answers to Big Russ's questions on everything from Iraq to Lieberman/Lamont were clear, persuasive, and measured. His delivery was smooth, and his answers regarding his presidential aspirations didn't seem canned, a remarkable feat that other would-be contenders simply can't achieve. For evidence, please change the channel to C-SPAN's Road to the White House, where George Allen's "let's pretend I'm in Iowa for any other reason" shtick should make even reasonable R's vomit on cue. Ughhhh.
So, here are two of my dream "subway series" matchups for 2008:
1) (Duh) Allen (R) v. Warner (D)
2) (NEW) McCain (R) v. Feingold (D)
Look, I know Feingold will not win the Dem. presidential nominee, but I can now confidently predict that he will be the Howard Dean of 2008. If you, like me, are a Dem campaign rat with flexible candidate preferences, Russ Feingold will be the most fun candidate to work for in '08, mark my words.
Regardless of my crush on Russ Feingold (and general desire to work for him), this does not change my 2008 presidential endorsement…

DASCHLE 2008, BABY! WOOOOOOOO! GET EXCITED. (…judy feder style)
SEEN/HEARD AT BLOGGER SUMMIT FESTIVITIES June 17, 2006

- SEN. CREIGH DEEDS shines in a stunning surprise appearance at Al Weed's Biltmore after-party! Outsmarts KENTON NGO, JAMES MARTIN, and others in Virginia political trivia and arrives/leaves at the exactly appropriate times. Way to go, Mayor Quim…er, Senator Deeds!
- DELS. KRIS AMUNDSON and BOB BRINK, quickly emerging as the most dynamic legislative duo the web has ever seen, regale bloggers with hysterical war stories from the General Assembly. Some of their digs easily outperformed material often seen on the WILMER VALDERRAMA-hosted MTV smash hit "Yo Momma" (not saying very much, I know). Even so, well done, Kris and Bob!

- The party was roaring @ Allen staffer TUCKER WATKINS's hospitality suite! Bipartisan hilarity ensued. As Waldo notes, the alcohol was indeed top notch. It's potency was quickly proven by the following events:
1) A major Virginia blogger who shall remain unnamed overpowered the room with a quite boisterous rendition of "House of the Rising Sun," and nearly had to be cut off by Tucker himself. Ouch! (editor's note: turns out this was a sober performance, as proven later by the blogger-in-question's ability to participate in a duet encore with a backing fiddle)
2) Yet another party attendee broke out into a spontaneous freestyle rap that seemed to be going decently until he attempted to rhyme the following:
Aspiring blogger/rapper: "someone pleez fahnally/tell gerry connolly/it's 'bout time to inhibit/the nonsense of Tribbett/who deals mo' cards than/bills sponsored by Marsden."
The crowd: "bwahaha, booooooo"
UPDATE: Good lord, someone call Lloyd Bentsen 'n get this m'f'r crunk!
3) A prominent female blogger steals the award for line of the night at an apartment on the UVA Corner by announcing "someone come onto this bed with me, I'm feeling friendly!" Ha ha ha. Let's just say NLS wishes he had been there. hmm…..
The moral of this liquorific exhibition? Drinking the opposing side's alcohol is an excellent campaign tactic – it depletes their resources quickly. I employed it with great success at the HARRIS MILLER-sponsored "JJ After Dark" open bar in February. Just look what happened to him! Many thanks to Tucker Watkins, and…you're next, GEORGE ALLEN!

To be clear, Tucker Watkins was a very generous host, and I thank him very much for having us.
- Finally, speaking of the show "Yo Momma," I am reminded of my favorite smackdown yet: "yo momma's so stupid, someone told her to do the robot and now R2D2 has aids." In turn, R2D2, of course, gets me thinking about another all-too-obvious resemblance:

Next week's S.A.B.A.T.O., anyone?…

As this marks the inaugural a.p.c. SABATO, there's really no choice but to put this, easily the most celebrated likeness in VA Dem politics, in the leadoff spot. Congratulations, Creigh and Mayor!

The Democratic primary is over, and Jim Webb is the Democratic nominee against George Allen in the fall. Wooooooooooot! Although I am saddened by Chuck Robb's decision to forego a comeback attempt against his foe of six years ago, Jim Webb is a worthy candidate. Certainly a first-time candidate, and not a perfect candidate, but then again, in the spirit of 1994…

"If you're looking for a perfect candidate, you won't find one…"
Thanks for taking a look, hope you'll come back soon, and a special shoutout to Dick Wadhams: let's get it on!
Go Webb,
